So, who and what is SHINE studios anyway?
SHINE’s vision is to empower people by Sharing Hope, Inspiration, and New Experiences.
Love is the foundation of SHINE and my mission is to uplift and inspire through support and creativity.
SHINE studios was founded in 2014, by me, Tanya Tiger. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience working with a wide range of clientele, from diverse backgrounds, within a variety of settings (schools, addiction clinics, prisons, virtual educational institutions, etc.) to address a multitude of life issues. In addition to being a Social Worker, I am also a Writer, Artist, wife, and mother.
After experiencing the traumatic death of my youngest daughter, Kristin (aka Krissy), I rediscovered, not only my passion for helping others to overcome adversity, but the true ability of art, writing, and music to heal. On my journey, I reconnected with my Intuition and creative spirit. Writing, art, and music became my therapy, my outlet for everything I could not speak out loud but which needed to be expressed. My creative endeavors saved my life and now I share them with others in the hope that my story will inspire people to keep going, even when the pain runs too deep.
I am a survivor… a Love Warrior, and I want others who are struggling, whether it is with major life changes or day-to-day troubles, to remember that they are not alone.
Rekindling hope and holding space for others on their journey became my mission. In honor of my two daughters, SHINE was born. SHINE is the manifestation of the Love, Hope, and Faith I hold in my heart for everyone with whom I connect.
SHINE is built on a foundation of Love… Love of Self, of Source, and of the World we live in (including all of its inhabitants… human, plant, animal, insects, etc.) Integrity, respect, and true dedication to helping individuals in need of guidance, support, and encouragement are the corner stones of my work and I strive to provide the highest level of service to all of my clients. Whether its a pep talk, an article I write, or a piece of art I put out into the world… my goal is to help others find their *spark*, whatever that may mean to them.

- An authentic desire to help you through your darkest days:
I have a genuine interest in seeing people heal and a deep desire to empower individuals to keep going even when it seems impossible.
- A holistic approach to meeting your needs:
You are more than your job, your race, your family, your past, your socio-economic status, etc. When I work with people I see the whole person, not just your trauma or current space you occupy. I see you, the so called good, bad, and ugly. Together, we will look at the full picture, not just the issue that caused you to seek help and we’ll work toward healing, one second at a time.
- A safe place to express yourself:
I aim to create a safe space for people to let down their guard, open up, and be their true selves. I want you to ‘just be you’. If you’re not sure who that is yet, we’ll start there. There is no way to get to the real issues if you don’t get to the real you first. Pain changes us. Change can be terrifying. You don’t have to face it alone.
A Little History:
The idea for SHINE studios was born after the unexpected death of my 16-month-old daughter, Kristin, in August of 2014. I had spent years working as a counselor to help people face their own problems and trauma, and now I faced my own. After meeting and/or speaking with numerous other parents who had lost their children, I knew that I was meant to take this personal tragedy and use it to create something good. Losing my daughter at such a young age reminded me that we are never guaranteed a tomorrow and that life is too short to “just get by” or put our dreams on hold.
Over the years I have met numerous people who were struggling with both major and minor obstacles in their day-to-day lives. Some people struggled with addiction, some with the loss of their job or marriage, and some just needed a nonjudgmental listener to point them in the right direction. Many spoke of dreams they had forgotten, put on hold, or felt they would never achieve because “life got in the way.” I recognized myself in those words, having put aside my love of writing and art to focus on my family and career. It was tragedy that brought my passions to the forefront again and provided the outlet I desperately needed to begin healing.
I founded SHINE as way to honor my daughter Kristin’s life, to leave a legacy of Love for my surviving daughter, Katelyn, as well as to provide a sanctuary of hope for anyone in need. It is my sincerest hope that I can be of service to others, to help people heal and get to a place where life holds meaning again. I am part counselor and part cheerleader. I want each person who finds their way to SHINE to walk away feeling renewed and excited about what comes next (or at least able to breathe a little easier).
Feel free to touch base and share your stories. We’re all in this together.
To quote Ram Dass, “We’re all just walking each other home,” and I look forward to hearing from you on your journey.
